SHE was looking so beautiful exactly like an Angel descended from heaven. Handa Haveli seems like a newly Wed bride and why not. After all she a grand daughter of Village’s sarpanch(head).

Daarji is a respected person not only for his family but for whole village. His words were command for everyone. No one can argue with him on any point.

She was sitting on small stool, looking herself in mirror. When Daarji came inside. “Kudio jara bahar jao.” He commands all the friends and cousins of Geet to leave her alone for a while. All girls vacate the room on his command. Geet stood up to touch his feet.

He held her before she bow down. “Nai puttar ji.” He kissed on her forehead. “Kisi ki nazar na lage mere puttar ko.” He blessed her. “Dekh puttar ab tu dusre ghar ja rahi hai. Main janta hu meri bachhi bahut syani hai. Par beta kabhi aisa koi kaam na karna jisse tere Daarji ka sir jhuke. Tu maan(honor) hai mera.” His voice were wriggling in his throat as lump formed inside, due the heaviness cause by the emotions.

“Daarji…” She whimpered and hides herself in her grandfather’s embrace.

“Mera bachha. Aaj main bahut khush hu. Sunjay bahut achha ladka hai.” Her grandfather showing his happiness again and again.

“Geet tu tyar hui k nahi?” Her mother’s voice grabbed their attention. She too came inside to check upon her.

“Daarji aap, yaha?” Avantika saw her father in law and quickly correct her scarf and to cover her head properly.

“Puttar ji main apne bachhi ko dekhne aaya tha. Kyunki aaj to ye chale hi jayegi.” The pain of separation was mixed with the feel of happiness.

Avantika caressed her daughter’s head and quickly put a black mark behind her ear to safe her from all evil eyes.

“Chalo putar ji baraat aati hogi.” He said and both left Geet alone in the room.

All are busy in the hustle bustle of marriage. Haveli was full of guests. While one person was standing secretly behind the bushes at the backside. His eyes were fixed on the window of one room.

“Damn Adi what I am doing because of you.” He just cursed one person in breath and came out. He plugged in the edge of the static rope and checked before he started climbing up with its help. Soon he jumped into the room and Geet’s eyes widened seeing a complete stranger in her room. Before she shouts and calls theed whole haveli in her room, he suppressesssed her mouth.

“Please don’t shout. I am not coming here to harm you. Mujhe Adi ne bheja hai. Don’t worry everything goes fine very soon. Come let’s go.” He said but she was afraid of him and didn’t understand what rubbish he was talking aboutg.

“Umm… ummm…” She nodded no in pace and trying to come out of his hard clutches.

She stopped on his feet and he freed her mouth, giving a chance to scream… “Daarji…” She screamed but next moment her mouth was again suppressed by the stranger.

“Have you gone mad. I am here to help you. To take you to your lover and you creating problem for us.” He scolds her and she trying to pushed him away.

He got angry on her and used his martial arts skills to made her unconscious. He now carried her like a sack on his shoulder. “Damn ye sirf dekhne me slim hai. How much weight she have.” He was cursing both Geet and Adi.

He quickly tied her with him so he can carried her through rope. But her screams alert her Daarji. He just welcomed the groom and his guests when he heard a scream of Geet.

“Rudr puttar idhar aa.” he called his son quickly. “Puttar ik vari ja or Geet ko dekh.” He told him to check Geet once again.

“Ji Daarji.” He obeyed and quickly went upstairs to check his daughter. “Geet beta you ready?” He called her daughter but got nothing. He went inside and saw the room empty. He checked everywhere and found nothing.

“Kya hua ji?” Avantika too came to see her daughter.

“Avanti tune Geet ko dekha? Wo kahi nahi hai.” He asked in a worried tone and both stare each other.

“Yahi hogi ji.” She too start looking for her.

“Ha par nahi hai. Main sab jagah dekh chuka hu.” Rudr was so tensed seeing his daughter missing.

Soon the news spread like a fire when her parents don’t found her anywhere in haveli. Gradually all start searching her but she was miss placed and all start gossiping about her.

Hoshiarpur wasn’t very developed in terms of modernity. They still believe in old values and traditions. Daarji’s anger was on peak. It was the first shameful moment for him in his lifetime. Till the date he lived a king size life. No one cares to look into his eyes directly and now the same people stared him with question filled eyes.

He really wanna killed Geet. Geet who was his heartbeat but today she brought shame for all…. She ran away on the day of her wedding…
